UK Science Minister Lord Sainsbury recently championed CDT as an example of a UK company that has successfully commercialised university based research and development.
In his keynote speech to the UK-Japan High Technology Forum in Tokyo, Japan on 17 May, the Minister stated that he was keen to encourage exploitation and commercialisation of university research.
CDT was spun out of the University's Cavendish and University Chemical Laboratories in 1992. The company is leading researching and commercial development of light emitting polymers and now employs 80 people.
