Luxell Technologies Inc. (TSX: LUX) today announced that Luxell and CDT have jointly announced that they are to collaborate in a program, which also includes the National Research Council of Canada, to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Black Layer technology (which Luxell licenses from the NRC) with CDT's Light Emitting Polymer (LEP) technology. The new program will focus on perfecting compatibility between the two technologies and demonstrating that the resulting combination results in a visually superior and economically more attractive alternative than current techniques for visual enhancement of OLED display screens.
Upon successful conclusion of this program CDT would have an option to license the Luxell technology for sub-license to CDT's LEP licensees.
This agreement supersedes all previous agreements between the two companies and resolves all prior disputes between them.
David Fyfe, CEO of CDT, commented, "I am very pleased that we have reached this accommodation with Luxell. We believe that there is a continuing need for contrast enhancement in OLED displays to assist in extending lifetimes as well as assisting with sunlight readability and we look forward to collaborating with Luxell and NRC to demonstrate that Luxell's technology can be successfully married with CDT's technology and device structures for commercial production of LEP displays"
John Wright, President and CEO of Luxell responded " Luxell is delighted to be working again with CDT, the global leader in this significant, emerging, display field. We are confident that our technology can assist CDT's licensees to offer even more competitive displays and in so doing to take a larger share of the rapidly expanding flat panel display market. This agreement marks a determination on Luxell's part to be committed to its licensees until their products, including Luxell's technology, are truly market ready and to maintain that close relationship with technology upgrades.”
